Bright Hill Pre-School, a charitable organisation has been serving the Babilon community in Windhoek faithfully for over 20 years with the number of pupils also increasing year on year. The school is a project of the African Havens welfare organization. The latter is registered as a welfare organization (No. WO143-3) at the Ministry of Health and Social Services. The school now has an average of 80 pupils with 4 teachers, of which two are qualified. One teacher has an Early Childhood Development Certificate, whilst the other has a Teaching diploma. Amongst the staff, there is a cleaner and a cook. Through limited donor funding, the school can cover the basic needs and pay employees a minimum salary exclusive of the regular fringe benefits. However, it is the desire of the school to pay the staff salaries that are befitting their commitment and level of education. The school plays a vital role in not only providing education, yet also serving as a safety net and building a community for most of the children.

How can I get involved?
The School needs funding to be able to train members of staff and pay competent salaries. Currently all salaries are paid by donors, but the funding we receive at the moment is only enough to cover the basic needs of the school and provide minimal remuneration for all employees.
